A year ago, Ramin made a drastic decision to stop using heroin. Even though he has been clean for several months, the label “addict” remains and he is stigmatized by his community. The stigma follows him everywhere: employers do not hire him; he cannot reunite with his family. “He will never stop using drugs” is a common refrain Ramin has heard people say many times about him. He feels stuck in between his past and present; his future remains uncertain in his isolated world. Ramin’s past has never passed and its shadow follows him in every step. Nevertheless, he tries; he wants to keep going on; restore everything he sacrificed. He has already re-gained some of his friends.
