Eight weeks to know thyself

“For me personally, it was such a relief, like I could take a breath for the first time in a very long time. I have time to be creative, that’s something that I didn’t have in this crazy period. I have allowed myself to start writing a script, something I haven’t done for years,” Leyli Gafarova, a filmmaker, says to explain her self-isolation experience in the Netherlands, where she was stuck during the coronavirus pandemic after Azerbaijan--her homeland--completely closed its borders.

Like so many industries worldwide, videography and photography have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Authors whose area of work is visual storytelling look for ways to be creative during this challenging time: does isolation benefit or obstruct creativity? Filmmaker Tural Haji explores this theme in “Eight weeks to know thyself”, a documentary shot through online digital platforms.
